Meet The Coaches

 

Billy Zufall

Head Coach

 

Background:

6th year head coach, has a 74-27-8 (overall record).  Coach is from Copley where he is a High School All-American/All-Midwest/All-Ohio & 1st Team Suburban League player (1988-1992).  During High School he played for the Internationals Soccer Club where in 1990 won the U16 Indoor National Championships in Chicago.  Bill as a youth competed in ODP, played overseas in Germany and has played in major tournaments in Canada, Mexico, Dallas Cup, and Florida Tournaments.  He then played as a starter for the University of Akron and Wake Forest University (NC).  During College he received many All-tourney awards and try-outs with the U-23 Men's US National Team.  He then played professionally for the Columbus Invaders and Cleveland Caps.  He has his Bachelor of Science, Human Resource Management, from the University of Akron.  He lives with his wife Jessica and daughter Vanessa and newest member born April 30th, 2009 William H. Zufall IV in Copley.  Bill is a Financial Advisor, President of Zufall Financial Services-Independent company of Raymond James Financial in Medina, Ohio.

2010:

  • Led hornets to 14-3-1 (7-0-0 s/l 1st in school history to go undefeated in s/l)
  • #4 ranking in state polls
  • NSCAA All-Academic Team GPA 3.52 and OSCCA All-Academic Team Awards
  • Director of coaching High School boys and girls
  • Bill Zufall III; Suburban league coach of the Year, District Finalist Coach of the Year, Ron Pineschanaum Award, All     Star Coach.
  • 3rd straight year to Senior All-Star coaching staff
  • Nominated 2nd straight NSCAA Scholar all-American (Matt Guzik-Scholar All-Region).
  • 1st All-Region Player-Jacob Naumann (nominated as All-American); 1st Medina County MVP-Naumann in schools history!
  • Ben Kitson earned 1st NSCAA Senior Excellence Award.
  • January 2011 earned NSCAA professional College coaching certificate.



2009:

  • Led hornets to a 13-3-2 (5-1-1 s/l 2nd place finish) records
  • Per Gazette-Winningest Soccer coach at Highland HS
  • #4 ranking in state polls (Highest ranking in school's history)
  • NSCAA All-Academic Team GPA 3.42 and OSSCA All-Academic Team Awards
  • Director of Coaching HYS (2006-current)
  • Named Medina County Coach of the Year (3rd straight Year)
  • Earned NFHS coaching certificate
  • Finalist for GAASCA Coach of the Year; Public and Private schools
  • 2nd straight year Senior All-Star Coach.
  • Nominated 1st player to NSCAA Scholar All-America Team (1st NSCAA Scholar All-East      Region Team)
  • Internationals W-League Coach (Semi-Professional Women's League)

2008:

  • 2007 & 2008 Medina County Coach of the Year
  • Ranked 3 consecutive weeks #8 in the State Polls (2008)
